A written specification
Before any oil is shipped, it must meet an agreed specification covering acidity, peroxide value, moisture, colour and smoke point. The specification does not change between orders.

Consistency is the only reason a trade buyer reorders. These are the specific controls that sit behind every carton of RBL Sunflower Oil.
Our controls
Six checks between the refinery and your shelf
None of these are unusual in a well-run edible oil supply chain. What matters is that they happen every time.
Batch laboratory testing
Each refining run is tested at the refinery laboratory and released against a certificate of analysis that we hold on file.
Frying performance checks
Oil is checked for smoke point and heat stability, because most of our customers fry with it daily rather than use it cold.
Retention samples
A sealed sample is kept for every batch we import, so any later query can be checked against the original oil.
Batch traceability
Batch number, manufacturing date and expiry date are coded on each bottle and tie back to one refining run and one dispatch.
A clear complaint route
If a customer raises an issue, we trace the batch, pull the retention sample and respond with findings — not excuses.

Certifications & compliance
What it takes to sell packaged sunflower oil in Kenya
We publish this list because buyers deserve to know what is required — and because we would rather explain our status honestly than decorate a page with marks we have not been issued.
KEBS standardisation mark
Packaged edible oils sold in Kenya fall under Kenya Bureau of Standards requirements, including the applicable sunflower oil standard and permit to use the Standardisation Mark for locally packed goods.
Pre-export verification of conformity
Imported consignments are subject to KEBS conformity assessment, with a certificate of conformity issued before shipment and verified at the port of entry.
Import documentation
Import declaration, certificate of origin, certificate of analysis and clearance through Kenya Revenue Authority customs procedures for each consignment.
Public health and food safety
Compliance with the Food, Drugs and Chemical Substances Act, including labelling requirements and premises hygiene for the storage and handling of food products.
Labelling compliance
Product name, net volume, ingredients, nutrition declaration, batch code, manufacturing and expiry dates, storage instructions, country of origin and importer details on every pack.
Refinery certification
Our partner refinery in Tanzania operates a certified ISO food safety management system, and supplies documentation for the batches produced for us.
A note on certification marks. This page describes the regulatory framework that applies to packaged edible oil in Kenya and the certifications held by our partner refinery. RBL displays a certification mark or licence number only once it has been formally issued to us. Documentation for a specific consignment is available to trade partners on request.
Packaging integrity
The pack protects the oil as much as the oil sells the pack
Food-grade PET, tamper-evident closures, induction-compatible sealing and cartons that survive real transport conditions on Kenyan roads.
- · Bottles moulded from virgin food-grade PET, marked with the PET (1) recycling code.
- · Tamper-evident caps so any interference is visible before purchase.
- · Batch, manufacture and expiry codes applied inline during filling.
- · Cartons and jerricans tested for stacking so pallets arrive intact.
